my first less boring post

i'm still posting here because SL is still not letting me in and neither is party poker. (human interactions in both are about the same)

i should be asleep, as well, or working on my essays, but you know, i'm lazy. that defines me as an SL designer. some designers are really talented, others are really crap, and i'm just really lazy.

so i stumbled upon a blog by a really crap SL designer who sells overpriced monotone outfits. she probably does much better than me, financially.

anyway, she amused me. first, she said snow crash was about an "interactive internet". she writes a fucking blog for fuck's sake. if the internet weren't interactive, it would be a newspaper or something. it would be mad magazine, stormtrooper, field and stream, or something equally retarded. and anyway, it was more about sumarian cult history than anything else, as i recall.

so from this, she goes on to talk about hooking up, because, as we all know, people who play SL are notoriously skilled at romance. she said there are 2 types of people in SL: those who act with their RL personalities and find meaning in SL and those who consider SL a game and just use it for sex and money (and probably marijuana cigarettes and rock and roll!). those definitions sounded a bit contradictory to me.

i consider SL a game. i consider life a game, but the stakes are much higher in life. Second Life is just a small blinds table of human interaction. if i see a big-ass dude who looks like an idiot in SL, i'll inform him of my opinion. in real life, i would just tell everyone outside of his earshot.

and what bothers a lot of people is that many folks in SL take it way too seriously. i don't follow this opinion, because, honestly, i don't think you can take SL too seriously. what could someone say that would display that they take SL too seriously? what people mistake as taking SL too seriously is people who take themselves too seriously.

if you find someone in SL who is everything you could ever to hope to find in a mate, i think that's fine. if you disagree, you probably think blind and deaf people should never mate just because they interact with people in a different, and basically limited way.

the people who annoy me are those who, say, think they contain the souls of sports' team mascots, people who can get worked up over having their avatar pushed a little, or people who use the word "ignorant" to mean stupid because they think it makes them sound more mature when they call people that.

those who know me know that i stir up a bit of trouble wherever i go. it's just my nature. i'm never cruel, but people still get really worked up. when you can practically feel their veins popping through SL, i sometimes try to remind them that SL is just a game, but what i mean is that they shouldn't take themselves so seriously.

there are 2 types of people in SL:

those, when affronted, think and/or say something along the lines of "HOW DARE THEY!"

and

those who take it in stride.

so in case anyone has read this, i'm going to still make it a point to affront each and every one of you at least once to determine whether you're worth the time to continue talking to. because how dare you if you're not.
